Inland Revenue asked Voco to help the organisation converge telecommunications services.

Inland Revenue has over 5,500 staff based in 17 cities and towns.

Challenge

Inland Revenue selected Voco initially to provide a sourcing strategy and negotiation expertise as the enterprise converged its communications services. The aim was to reduce cost and improve IT service delivery to end users. The engagement grew to encompass development of the business cases, provision of specialist technical leadership and delivery of a PMO to support Inland Revenue’s project manager.

Solution

Voco:

  • Developed a strategy foundation and business case.
  • Led the development of a comprehensive tender and managed the evaluation and selection phase using Voco templates and approaches.
  • Led the dual-contract negotiations with both short-listed providers and then finalised terms with the successful provider.
  • Oversaw disengagement of the unsuccessful incumbent provider.
  • Provided the commercial advisor, Transition Manager, Service Management Process Lead, PMO Manager and Voice solution specialists as part of the overall project team.

Results

Inland Revenue achieved a double digit reduction in cost and a significant uplift in capability and capacity. The project won the ‘Most Successful Project Implementation’ category in Computer World’s Excellence Awards (2007).
